Like seriously I'm sorry but it's really poorly done and last time I checked it I'm pretty sure it sorted with the newest posts at the BOTTOM (maybe this has been changed I haven't looked in a few days).

Regardless just having an actual stickied post at the top, like frankly every single other game sub I have ever been in, even if THAT post then links to others, would be sooooo much better and less confusing/informative for players.

Edit: Just checked and YUP that god awful megathread collection STILL sends the newest posts to the bottom. Seriously is the guy in charge of that the same one who's responsible for outriders map??? It's abysmal. It's no wonder people are so uninformed tbh.

Thanks for the feedback - I took another look at the Reddit collection. The default collection functionality is that new posts get added to the bottom of the list when added.

Going into the collection manually, I was able to reshuffle the threads individually to bump the newest + known issues to the top - hope that helps your concern?

Regarding the overall format of the mega-threads, how would you like to see them change to better help with information?

Tagging /u/LtKrunch_ for visibility.

Honestly the only thing the devs said that rubbed me the wrong way was about the infinite sign in on ps5, saying it was a console problem.

Maybe the ps5 has bad cache busting, but somehow every single other game that requires me to login to a service works flawlessly. I'd assume these other devs have then found the proper way to deal with the ps5 cache.

That part of their reply felt dismissive.

But hey that's just me, maybe I just don't understand the tone of their community posts either.

I do apologize that my response to this problem in particular came across as dismissive, I never meant for it to come across that way.

My intent was to separate genuine server issues from local bugs. The signing in issue, despite appearing to be a connection issue, appears to actually be a local console issue (hence why it's not appearing on all platforms).

This is one of those cases where conflating server issues can be misleading, which is why I deflected it from that particular thread. I should have provided more information at the time, but as our latest mega thread had just gone live, I was jumping across various different threads keeping up with things. That's not an excuse, it's just an explanation.

We're very aware of the signing in issue and from what I can see, our upcoming patch may well help alleviate it.

Thank you for responding. Sorry it took me so long to respond myself.

I will gladly give you details only because i actually love your game.

Before i start i want to make something crystal clear. What i say here and below is only for CO-OP and has Nothing to do with playing solo. Understood? When i play solo the game runs flawless 99% of the time. The issues below appear when i am in group co-op ONLY. Usually in trio because its what i get matchmade in the most. Though duo also has the exact same issue too just maybe not as bad as in 3 man. It doesn't matter Who i matchmake with. It can be my sister in the same house or someone across the world/country from me. Co-op is busted.

I took the time to actually make you some videos. I hope you appreciate the effort and actually watch them as it will show you EVERYTHING th...

Thank you very much for extensive information you've provided here, I really appreciate it and the amount of detail you've gone into by providing the videos. I'm passing them on but I may DM you to ask for your user profile in future in case it will be helpful to look at your logs to identify potential causes.

I completely understand you preferring to not share it at this point in time though, so no worries.

I do not envy you. You get so much shit from the people here yet you remain civil and constructive. I for one appreciate the effort you put into this. Other than the, more often than not, horrible rubber banding multiplayer connections (I have gigabit internet) I'm happy with the game and I'm really enjoying myself.

Thank you and keep it up.

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement and support. Such messages (including the acknowledgment of your rubber banding issue) are more helpful than you can ever imagine and they help me/us power on with addressing such things and improving the experience for you.

Excellent response. Your transparency is both refreshing and greatly appreciated. Transparency is sorely lacking in this industry, so it's nice to get an idea of how these issues are being handled internally.

Thank you!

We set ourselves the goal to be as transparent as we can possibly be with Outriders and we're not wavering from that commitment.

The difficulty, however, is that transparency requires longer communications and explanations to provide background details on a matter. Longer replies in turn are much easier to be taken out of context with a negative "hot take" or be entirely misunderstood because a reader might not have read the complete message.

It's a difficult thing to balance, but we're still trying and still learning how to improve every day.

Hey there,

A bigger follow up patch is coming as has been mentioned a few times throughout our previous mega threads.

Pasted the latest information below:

Patches:Our team is continuing to work hard on upcoming patches to address a variety of bugs and performance improvements as well as a few other things. More news on these soon.

Balancing:As an additional small note, we haven’t forgotten your feedback on previous balance changes and are working on a post to provide more background on past changes and our overall balancing plans for the game. We will share an update with you in the near future.

The next patch will be our biggest patch to date and will address a lot of issues you're seeing. It's currently undergoing testing and I'm working through the patch notes for it and will share news on it's release when we know when it will land.

As for the response you quoted me on, please note that you did lift ...

Is outriders completely peer to peer?

The multiplayer component is peer to peer, with a relay server for most connections. However, direct tunneling is enabled for certain platforms where a better ping can be achieved by avoiding the relay.

I'm part of group A- and the limit of 20 items being restored concerns me.

  • Additionally, because we can conclusively identify these characters as having been wiped, we can grant them a total of 20 previously acquired items that were in their inventory, with first prioritization based on rarity (descending from Epic rarity) and second prioritization based on date acquired.

IIRC my character's inventory was pretty full, and my stash had at LEAST 75 items in it.... Getting only my legendaries + 20 other items seems very weak, especially considering the date of acquisition may not matter. Some of the recent drops may have been very valuable, but if I'd had something for a long time, I probably wanted to keep it.

Thoughts?

You'll get the rarest back first. I.e. if you had 15 Epics and 20 rares, you'll first get back 15 Epics, as well as 5 rares. If you had 20+ Epics, then you would be getting 20 Epics back, starting with the most recently acquired ones.

Even if you acquired an Epic that now was 5 levels lower than your current level, you would be getting that Epic back at your current level, god rolled if it was within that most recent list of 20.

I am curious. Are you you trying to suggest the sputtering and lag everyone is experiencing is our connections?

Not as such - I'm saying that the problems you are facing are not present across the entire online population as far as we can tell, bearing in mind that there are hundreds of thousands of players.

That doesn't mean your problems don't exist or that they are your fault, it just means we need more information to specifically address them.

Nope, both wired. Open NAT. Same VLAN, etc. And it is not my networking hardware either (I work full time as a software engineer with server hobby, I have well beyond "normal" hardware).

Thanks for the extra details - I've bundled everything up and passed it on to the team for investigation! I'll be back if I have any further questions or suggestions.

And if you think lag rate is acceptable, it is? As opposed to the countless different community members claiming differently across the world?

Yeah, keep that $60. Only money you'll ever be getting from me. Laziest, most irresponsible process you can even go about.

So... basically, if you don't see any direct reports, it doesn't matter?

Not at all. All these reports matter, but not all reports are actionable given the information they lack.

By that I mean, and that was the intention of my bigger response here, it's important for us to track down these issues and we want to ensure that everyone does have the best possible experience. We're not pretending that every player is currently having a flawless experience.

But we can't investigate vague reports since we don't know what specifically to be looking at in relation to a specific players report. The more details we get (as requested), the better our ability to actually resolve the specific issues you are facing.

I joined a friend for about 20 minutes and then he joined me for a few hours and neither of us disconnected once the whole night. Might be something to try if you’re an Xbox user and are having connection issues

Thank you very much, I very much appreciate the follow up! I'll check in with the teams about it and will also see if it helps other users.

If you have any further issues, do feel free to report them in the other thread or DM me about them.

Oh wow. Very nice to meet you. Thanks to you both for all the hard work. Like many players here in this budding community, I’m excited for this game and the future possibilities and thirsty for any scrap of information on our latest obsession. Is Twitter the best place to look for that? Are you allowed or do you know yet answers to questions like new content, transmog or new loot? Many of us would love to see that and would love to know if things are even being considered. Keep up the hard work.

Twitter is what we use for more in the moment updates as soon as we're able to share them, but all news does get posted across all social handles.

We use Twitter like this because it's social algorithms do not penalise us for posting multiple times in Succession (while platforms like Facebook do)

And there are no differences. No Xbox Insiders enrollment or anything. We pretty much exclusively only play with each other since matchmaking is even worse (constant yellow/red bars).

DM'd you more details.

Thank you! Will Check my dms momentarily. Final quick question - are you both on WiFi? Or is one on an ethernet cable?

  • My girlfriend and I are both on Xbox Series X devices and are on the same network.
    • According to a previous thread this means we should be direct connecting to each other over LAN instead of using a P2P relay.
  • We "see" no connectivity issues. No yellow bar, no red bar, etc.
  • Out network speed is 1000/50. We often average 20-50 ping on speedtests and sub 100ms ping on game servers.
  • When I am the host, everything works great. All of my killing shots proc, all of my damage is consistent, everything works great.
  • When my girlfriend is host, my DPS seems to be mostly consistent (~80%...

Thanks for the info. As you correctly linked to, your connections should indeed be tunneling to one another. It also very strange to hear that its okay with one host but not the other.

If you are able to dm me your gamer tags along with a date and time+timezone where you were experiencing these packet drops, we may be able to investigate logs.

As a side question - are there any differences at all between your xboxs? Different OS versions? Are any of you part of any xbox beta programs?

Furthermore, How many friends to both of you have on your friends lists?

I really feel bad for them cause they are taking a lot of shade, and honestly, this was a HUGE mistake on Square Enix's part for not having ATLEAST 1 manager per platform.

The more managers you have, the more information between platforms can diverge due to how differently individuals may word things.

While managing so many platforms is definitely very hard for two of us, it does also put us in a position where we know exactly how the community feels on a certain topic and how those opinions might differ from platform to platform.

It also means we're much more plugged into the ongoing dev and are so much more than just the 'twitter PR people' which some people like to refer to us as...

Hello!

I'm one of the two CMs for Outriders. We've both been working nonstop since launch and this past weekend was the first day where we took our foot off the gas for a moment just to catch our breath. We were still monitoring everything to ensure the patch was deploying okay, but we didn't post at the time.

We then used Monday for a bigger review of the situation since the patch.

As you may have seen today, we've just posted our next dev update.

Press the outriders icon on your desktop, click start game. Play a couple of hours of coop with 2 friends. You dont need us to tell you anything, try the coop experience for a few hours and you will figure it out :)

We have hundreds of QA testers testing all aspects of the game. When they encounter issues, they report them.

The issue here is that even those hundreds of testers cannot compare to the huge volume of players and playtime in the wider population, where individual scenarios can impact our game in a way that our testers would never be able to replicate.

This is why I keep asking for details.

"Since we resolved the server issues of the launch week (...)" - no, you haven't. Not even close. Have you seen all the posts by PS5 players stuck in "Signed in!" limbo for example? That is the exact opposite of server issues being resolved! And your twitter just recommends to unplug the console every time! Seriously, that's the "fix" you're satisfied with?!

This is a local caching issue that appears specific to the PS5. The fact that a local fix can resolve this issue does indicate that it's console side rather than server side.

However, it is something we are looking in to, but it is unrelated to rubberbanding so I didn't mention it here.
