Can you help me narrow down your issue? Are you trying for PvE or PvP?

If you read through this Dev Diary, can you let me know where you and your friend(s) are having trouble?

It has been my experience that when you experience a modded crash, you very rarely get the error message that caused the crash. (because, the game is crashing and can't log errors at this point).

Your best bet is to go through your modlist, disable any out of date mods, and see if that resolves the issue. If not, you can disable them in batches to see what group of mods is causing the problem, then disable them one by one until you find the culprit.

So my idea:
Sectors and Planets
In the section "Planets and sectors" you should add a possibility to manage the planets.
First each sector with an icon to show planets in the sector.
Then a possibility to "auto" build/upgrade on planets.
Here's a Montu video that explains how planetary automation works:

I did some digging when this happened on my own Deck, and the Paradox launcher team is aware of the issue. In the meantime, I've since used this fix found on the Paradox forums:

https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/paradox-games-not-working-on-steam-deck-after-launcher-update.1564662/post-28714848

If you're not a Linux pro (I'm not) and aren't sure how to make this happen, let me know and I'm happy to share the exact steps.

As a note: the devs generally do not check Steam, because they are busy working, but the Community team does (hi!) and we pass issues along to them as needed.

Can you report this on the bug report forums so our Devs can take a look at it?

Thanks!

There are several things you can try to fix this issue, try each of these steps in order, and attempt to load the game after each one:

1. Disable all mods
2. Verify Local Files (Steam) - Right Click Stellaris, Right Click Properties, Go to Local Files and click ""Verify Integrity of Game Files""
3. In the launcher, go to Settings, and change your Video Settings to Borderless Fullscreen or Windowed mode
4. (In Windows) Go to Settings, Add/Remove Programs, and Uninstall Paradox Launcher v2. After relaunching the game, let the launcher download updates, and restart the game again.

If none of these things work, go to support.paradoxplaza.com and open a ticket. Customer Support will be able to help you troubleshoot this issue!"

Thank you for the info!

Who was hosting the game when you first played, and when you rehosted?

I can pass info along to our team, but I may have to ask that you file a full bug report. I'll get back to you!

Hiya! To help you troubleshoot this, can you let me know what version of the game you're playing?

This was a known issue a couple versions of the game ago, and would usually pop up when an empire was created in the multiplayer lobby using a humanoids or plantoids portrait, when the game host has the humanoids or plantoids DLC, but the player creating the empire does not.

But if you're running into it during the newest version or a different scenario, please let us know!

In that case, please try disabling all of your mods before starting, and let us know if you still have the same issue.

Are you using any mods?

You might try Step 3 of our usual issue-checking process:

Manually delete /Stellaris/ and redownload: (in Steam) Right Click Stellaris, Local Files, and click Browse. Delete the contents of the /Stellaris/ folder that opens (do *not* delete the /Stellaris/ folder in /Documents/, as it contains your save files and custom empires).
