*** Command: settime *** Set the current game time. Usage: 1. settime day 2. settime night 3. settime
Just be aware that this is a developer test command, and that running it on your save/server has a very high likelihood of breaking your game.

Moving time forward seems to have notably less impact in a20 than in previous versions.
Moving time backwards is almost guaranteed to break your save.

Additional Advanced World Generation Options
Biome Percent Sliders

In Alpha 21 we'll be able to adjust the biome percentage.
Also the mapinfo.xml for a generated world will now contain all the settings and information to recreate the world (the typed seed, size, and the settings of the sliders/dropdowns)

UPdate: this includes making worlds 100% a single biome.

Some people want the vanilla game to be as good as it can be. Mods are great, but the more the devs tweak and fix things on their own, the better the game gets.

There’s user feedback like this on every game forum, and it’s especially pronounced for early access games where major components are still in development. Whether or not the devs see it, these discussions can be constructive and illuminating to the participants.

It’s one thing to disagree about what’s right or wrong for the game. But what I can’t abide by is advice to ignore problems, settle, and/or hope things will get better in silence. That is antithetical to having a forum about the game. Conversations about the game are a net benefit to the community, and the exchange of ideas is welcome here.

Vending machines will be randomly functional or nonfunctional. The nonfunctional ones are still somewhat useful, if you want to salvage harvest them for forged iron & steel.

Still doesn't explain why they decided to switch to area attack instead of go through. I think there was seriously A LOT of those traps - so penalty was so massive that AI decided it will be better to level building.

Its like that for years.

The spikes have this property:

And the documentation says this:
(A17) The Path property This is a shortcut for the AI pathfinding and quickly determines that this block (like a forge or pillar100) can not be pathed into from... Read more

I still don’t think this is true. It seems more plausible that there wasn’t enough space left to go that way in the zombies’ view.

When the zombies ‘see’ a spike field, they don’t see a bunch of sharp pointy sticks. They see a block. An obstacle. So to see it from their perspective, imagine placi... Read more

Originally posted by Ono Bonedout: they are attracted to heat sources like torches flaming barrels camp fire and furnace

You're not exactly wrong, but when one is imprecise about who "they" are, it leads to confusion.

It's true that sources of 'activity' (formerly known as heat) like torches and forges and so on add to the activity map, which will cause screamers to spawn eventually, which will investigate the chunk with high activity. But if you have a zombie in the world, that already spawned for some other reason, then that zombie doesn't care about heat sources. You can put up all the torches you want, and you might get more zombies off the activity map, but it won't do anything to the ones you ... Read more

There you might use all your forges which add to the 'activity map' drawing them to it. Also, some torches helps but, beware, torches can hurt performance.....so, don't use too many. Also, anything noisy like generators, cement mixers, etc....would attract them to it. Then just keep your supplies storage and workbenches in your 'home' base. Make both bases side by side with your 'home' base having a wall around it (kept small enough to keep both bases within your LCB area. Then you could have a catwalk going from roof of one to the other to quickly get back n forth.

Probably intentional. I haven’t used the drone, but I can’t think of any case where you can use two of the same mod on one item.

Those first person arms were redone not long ago, in both male and female versions. So I'd predict they're unlikely to re-do them again if they can help it. I suspect whatever character customization or lack thereof we have in A21 will be considered final. We'll have to see. :spazdreaming:

Originally posted by Mr. Storm: Im no game dev but its not like the old models were super complex or anything there's probably other ways they could have cut back on the memory usage. Personally, I would have preferred a more even set of textures (even poorer quality ones) rather than making some high definition at the detriment to many others. I think it would have made a smoother transition if they just left the old ones there for now and rolled out all the new ones when the game is better optimized. I enjoy the game still its just a little critique of the devs process. Just my opinion though.

That hasn't been my understanding. The devs have said the redone, higher quality zombies are actually more performant than the old... Read more

This is largely a consequence of the game being in development, rather than a finished product getting updates. For example, you mention the character and clothing art lagging behind zombie and world art. They’ve been forecasting an overhaul to armor/clothing, and by extension updates to the non-zombie character art for a long time, and we now expect that change to come in the next alpha.

We’re all driving the car while it’s being built so to speak, which makes the unfinished parts of the car more conspicuous. But this is how Early Access is supposed to work.

As for the food in hand models, I can see how it feels like a step backwards. Though I have to say, complaining that the cat food doesn’t look good, of all things, doesn’t make the most convincing argument. :lunar2019crylaughingpig: Those were consolidated for a reason: to reduce ... Read more

Sure, I've looked at it, but it works about as well as Vulkan in Unity. Unity is supposedly making a push to improve DX12 support. I saw it on their roadmap. Maybe next year.

What is a “gate” in this context? Is it a plywood block with the security gate shape? If so, you could upgrade that to a wood block or better, and then you wouldn’t pick it up.
