Clouds/sky/weather are legacy systems. They work how previous devs made them and then we refactor them to better meet the final design of the game. The why of designs is often lost and in the end I don't care, we just need to make it work to meet the goals of shipping the game. I've been cleaning up and rewriting those systems as time permits, but it is a big WIP.

Some of what you describe are just side effects of a combination of things and it may change by the time we go gold.

Test features are usually for debugging and generally don't become normal features. I'm not sure w

Correct. That list of features is just a list of what we plan to do. It may be months before someone works on it and often features will get pushed back, because it can't be done in time or at all due to unforeseen circumstances. As the alpha progresses, the list tends to get updated to reflect where we are at, but is no guarantee of anything.

We have bug tickets for such things, so eventually they should get looked at.

Basically yes. There are and may still be some global parts, but it is all WIP.

Not planned.

No plans, but it could happen months from now.

They are wet and dry, are they not? Or am I missing a step?
Had to backdate to stable and log in to check, but you're right. I stand corrected. The first wet concrete stage does actually have 250 less ... Read more

New players going about the game as someone would a typical survival game will be in for a rude awakening once they hit a higher gamestage and have hours of work ruined by attacks that are more severe than they expect.

If someone new plays a builder and perks into that (especially if building aesthetically) likely wont have a great base design or the means to defend it, and theres been a fair few rants from new players on the forums for similar issues from new players.

Knowing from the start that you have to prepare for what comes later needs to be clear, while 7days has pr...

It's a randomly generated map that you created, There's not going to be a map online for it.

Anyone attempting to play the game as such is in for a bad time.
On the contrary, To a newbie, it is more of a survival game than it ever has been. It's much harder to survive in general, harder to reliably acquire adequate amounts of food, harder to manage your health due to the critical injuries system, Infection is an actual threat if you don't have antibiotics, and more..

To an old hat, sure, the game isn't much of a survival game anymore. But, that's purely because we're so experienced with the game at this point that it doesnt matter what changes, o... Read more

Are you sure on that? I thought wet concrete isn't as strong as dried concrete?
It's not. I didn't say there wasn't. I said there was no difference between the two stages of Wet concrete; Both the fir... Read more

Originally posted by Equinox: If you're upgrading your base blocks, use rebar when you have the ability to access the forge and a bunch of cement. Saves a crap ton of resources.

Instead of upgrading from Frame
You just go RebarAn addendum to this, You can also just craft Flagstone blocks directly, and skip the frame/wood step. Or alternatively make scrap iron blocks iirc which is a side-grade to the flagstone/cobblestone blocks.
So your options in actuality are as follows:

Of note, is that upon upgrading to Concrete or Reinforced concrete, you will get a 'Wet Concrete Block' that have a drying period before becoming hardened. The wet blocks also ahve different structural support val...

We should try to get away from calling it a heat map, and call it an activity map, for the sake new players not getting confused when screamers come for activities that don’t put out much heat in the thermal sense.

Anyway, I think gamestage is the most important mechanic for new players to understand. Gamestage is a number the game computes that’s directly related to your player level, and it dictates what zombies you’ll face as well as what loot you’ll find. Raising your XP gain in the options is, for most people, not going to make the game easier. And if you find some cheap/unbalanced/artificial way to make a ton of XP fast, you’ll likely only hurt yourself. The game is designed to work with your rate of progress, whatever it may be. You get ahead of the curve through efficiency, not by inflating your XP.

If the player could only make One forge, then yeah, the 'issue' has some merit. But this is a game with building/tower defense game where you can expand your base and add as many forges as you want.

It'd be like going over to Factorio and complaining that a single starter smelter doesn't smelt at 1,000 ingots per second to carry you through to the end game without having to make a second- It's an argument that just doesn't fit when the game gives the player the ability to build more any time they feel constrained.

Or to keep it in 7DTD, to comp... Read more

If anything, it'd be more likely for crafting times to increase. But personally, I think it's fine as is. You can always add a second forge, or a third, or a seventh, provided you use them in moderation and dont leave it running 24/7 to attract screamers.

Internally those are items so they have the same properties to set prices as regular items.

do they need to put the password everytime they wanna open that door or 1 time only?
It should be one time only, but may be once each time they log in, unsure which.

It is?!? Name one triple-A game that spent seven years in Alpha.

Look, don't get me wrong - I love the game. But I loved it just as much 3 years ago. A little polish at that point and it's at least ready for Beta.

What I suspect is that the game did so well as an early access release the d...
