A20 NEWS!!!!!!!
Started on the water overhaul this week. I'm working on the water chunk data and another programmer will be doing simulation/mesh changes.

My plan is water will not be a block, but additional chunk data, which is a pretty big change. It makes more sense, since any block could have water in it while still being whatever block it is.

I'm going to move this to General Discussions, because it asks for ideas & opinions rather than knowledge base questions with objective answers.

To elaborate, crafting quality is tied to the skill that bolsters the items effects. EG: to raise bow and crossbow crafting quality, you raise the archery skill in agility. Or for clubs you raise the club skill in strength. Or for tools like the pickaxe you raise the miner 69er skill in strength, and so on.

If you can drive a car and hit 200mph on a straight away, it means you can go around a curve at 200mph, then, right?

Or if you can eat a whole small pizza, you can eat a whole party pizza?

Or that since you can draw well in crayon, you can paint a great oil painting?

Witcher 3 is a great game and all, But many of it's visual elements are prebaked, It's ram needs are quite a lot lower than 7dtd (7dtd will happily use upwards of 10-16gb of ram depending ... Read more

I love new Unity versions, but as we are getting into a gold mindset and have been talking to Unity, we plan on using LTS releases. A20 should be on 2019.4 LTS and next year hopefully move to the 2020 LTS for A21, so would be able to get those benefits.

Not likely. Vehicle speed is limited by chunk loading speed. Last week I make an improvement to chunk deco spawning speed, but a lot more would have to be done to the total speed.

No. The current one may get a few tweaks and will probably go stable within a month.

A lot of team time is now going into A20.

It would be a performance issue in the current way it works. We need a corpse manager that deletes oldest/farthest corpses, in addition to the current timer.

Many sounds originate from the player. Hopefully that gets improved someday.

From what you described, there is no bug here that i can tell. When you log out during a quest, the quest is returned to it's initial state; This happens regardless of whether or not you logged out, crashed, were kicked, or what have you.

However, to prevent abuse of this system, it also often forces a cooldown on the quest to prevent you from starting the quest, looting the POI, logging out, logging in, and starting the quest again to refresh the area.

The quest isn't 'Failed' because you didn't fail it, but you can't start it again because it's on cooldown; So long as the quest remains in your quest log, you should be able to just come back in an ingame day or two and you should be able to attempt it again...Or just abandon the quest and accept a new one.

There is a prototype of third person mode that can be accessed via developer/debug mode; But that requires him to have administrative privlege to the server where he's using it; Or for the permission level of the 'dm' command to be set low enough that he can access it.

As it's an unfinished feature, there's currently no other way to access it.

Is the chorizo pork or beef? i've wanted to try it but i'm allergic if it's pork, i normally get a large #1 with cheese and extra pickles
Chorizo is pork, pork fat and spices.

The tool was only intended to be in the POI editor and world editor tools.

Still easy to flatten ground if you want.

I’m no pilot, but I’ve been using the gyrocopter a lot and I think the idea is that it has limited power. So you can’t get a lot of thrust and a lot of lift out of it at the same time. Treat it like a regular plane specifically in the sense that you accelerate down a runway and then pull up, at speed.

They do. What makes you think people don't repair a block or trap during blood moon hordes? It takes a few clicks. Thing is though, adding another player to do repairs, doubles the number of enemies you face (horde scale with number of players). Adding a d...

Maybe this could be an option if and when we get more friendly NPCs. The junk drone is already neat to see as a companion, and loading it with repair materials seems both technically plausible and quite handy for larger bases.

This may be an option in some situations, but not all given the unpredictability of when interruptions happen. Even planned interruptions can be perilous. I was in my base waiting on my campfire one night and decided to get up and brush my teeth without pausing. I thought I’d raised my hatch that provides the only access inside. But, sure enough, I came back to a ‘spawn on bedroll or near bedroll?’ screen, because zombie Steve picked just then to poke his head in and deliver a slow, embarrassingly avoidable death.

I play a lot of competitive Left 4 Dead 2, and we’ve modded that game with a pause feature anyone can in... Read more

It's almost like factories immediately ship out their products in batches as they're made, and mostly keep large stores of the component parts of their product on hand. :P

So yeah....It's not very surprising that the book store, that primarily stocks and sells books has more books and bookshelves than the factory that -makes- the books and then ships them to the store to be sold. At least not to me.

Working as intended. Many crafting recipes provide experience now; And the exp issued is dependent upon the quantity of resources used. Bundles use 6000 of an item, and give a commensurate reward.

But as you noted, It has diminishing returns and after 5-10 crafts will have diminished to 0 never to give exp again. It can be 'abused' by just crafting, unpacking, and re-crafting it, sure, but, ultimately doing so will just hinder yourself as you'd be artificially boosting your gamestage if you did so to gain a bunch of levels without actually mining up the material and collecting stuff in the interim.

There is no pausing on a dedicated server unless everyone is logged out. I very much doubt a pause feature would ever be added to the dedi.
