I'm not seeing the argument that it "limits the map" more than non-specialized traders. With non-specialized traders, there's less reason to explore. You do your starter quest, find your first trader, and you're set. You don't have as much incentive to try other traders, because they'll have the same stuff, whereas specialized traders give you an added reason to check them all at least once in a while.

Think if this were real life. If your house is next to a Walmart, it doesn't really matter if there are other, equally stocked Walmarts in neighboring towns. You just go to the close one. If instead you don't have a Walmart but you have a grocery store, a drug store, and a hardware store in your local area, now your trips are more interesting, requiring different paths.

In game terms, that means more exploration, utilizing more of the map. Theoretically, which trader to build near is an interesting choice, with the opportunity to synergize with your charact... Read more

uhhhh on the pages for the mods, I'm sure that would have been difficult to look up on your own.
Yeah, but are they up-to-date with a19?

I looked in the xml, and the only mod that matches the mod slot for the spear is the burning shaft mod.

Spears get Burning Shaft, and extra damage from cosmetic colors. Yeah, that's kinda giving them the shaft.

It's possible to design something for an intended purpose, and have it be usable in other unintended ways that may not have been thought of during the design process. For example, the first person who made a knife out of a stone or a bone probably did so for hunting purposes- I doubt they ever considered the knife would end up being used in murders for millenia to come while they were making that knife in the first place.

They added flat barbed wire because it was a cool thing- But players found a way of using it in a way that was unintended; a way that made the barbed wire never take damage and so be able to slow zombies without any resource cost.

The intent was for the barbed wire to slow enemies in return for durability that must be repaired/replaced. It was designed with that intention in mine, it was given a hitbox that matched it's shape. For what it was intended to do, it does flawlessly. But because the hitbox can be hidden in a way that never lets a zo... Read more

Adding the recipe is trivial.

We decided against that to avoid recipe clutter.

The treasure chest is already placed in world at the time that the guidance circles appear- So you're digging to find 'where it has been all along' as it were. The chest is within the boundary of the guidance circle to start, and the circle then contracts around the location of the chest every X blocks to help you narrow down your search. Chest is always in the dirt layer; if you hit rock you're too deep.

It's a feature that was added to Unity, but hasn't been fully developed for the client yet.

Consider it an incomplete feature that is not 100% functional.

Not without some serious framework changes or addition of tinting.

They had such a list at one time but I guess they scrubbed any info like that, leaving only the award.

The special quest to go to a new trader requires you to complete a quest tier; which itself requires you to complete 10 trader quests. Are you sure you've qualified for that?

Hmm. And they are linking some nonsense there. Interesting.

I was looking around for games that I suspected to be in that list but found none. It must be a lot more exclusive than I thought and most "modern" games don't have the shelf life to have a chance to get in.

It is a bug I noticed and tried fixing, but it's an engine bug. I reported it to Prime so once he gets that fixed Traders Rekt will be selling seeds.

Console command spawnwh will spawn a wandering horde.

AIDirector does not spawn them at the same time, but it is one per tick, so 20 a second. 2 seconds is a lot of time and may not be feasible in POIs due to players being able to see them pop in. I added a wh spawn delay of 1 second. That may be enough in that case.

A common load delay and/or precaching solution may work, but these are not trivial changes with the randomness of spawns and spawning across different systems.

Thanks

It is not something I've tried and I don't know of anyone on the team that has one. I use a 32 inch 4k 16:9 monitor for my main.

Running in windowed mode would allow us to test any aspect ratio.

Once the new framework is done (if we do it) then all shapes will be unified in menus and all will upgrade, except for certain blocks we might not want in steel like iron bars, etc.

They’re called Sugar Butts, and they only improve prices. They don’t change the trader’s inventory.
