Greetings Capsuleers!

We have an update about a testing window Singularity to share with you all today. As part of the upcoming Havoc expansion, a new mechanic is going to be added to the existing Factional Warfare zones, “Pirate Insurgencies” and we’d like your help with testing it out!

When is the test running?

  • Singularity will be opening for testing on Thursday 19th October at 18:00 UTC and closing again at 20:00 UTC.

What will be included in this patch?

  • We will be patching Singularity with several parts of the Havoc expansion (not the whole thing!) and won’t be fully representative of the entire expansion. The primary focus of this test is the Pirate Insurgencies. Some additional features are also included but may not be considered final or a part of this test.

What exactly is being tested?

Enlistment:

  • Enlisting with...

On December 7th, 2023, we will discontinue support for Windows 7 and 8 operating systems.

After support is discontinued players will be unable to launch EVE Online if they are using these operating systems. The minimum requirements for EVE Online will be updated to reflect the change, indicating that Windows 10 and later will be supported.

Microsoft discontinued Windows 7 support in January 2020 and ...

The fix is taking a bit longer than we would like. We’re aiming for a deployment early next week to resolve this.

Hi

If all goes to plan, we’ll be deploying a change which should fix this problem tomorrow. It will alter the way the window for the client interfaces with the OS.

To explain how the window rendering works:

In full screen mode, there will be a black bar at the top of the screen in line with the notch. As a result, the notch is “ignored”, at the cost of losing a few pixels at the top of the screen. You can still move the mouse cursor into the black bar area.

In August there was a change to allow all of the pixels to be used when ‘fixed window’ was selected. This means that if you have a notch, the client will render around it giving you the most screen estate possible.
The downside of this is that the client still considers this a ‘real’ area, meaning you can move things into the area where the notch exists and you won’t be able to see it. We believe the impact of this is low though, as there are almost no such windows in EVE that could be accidentall...

18:41 UTC - Tranquility is open to players. We will continue to monitor the health of the server. Thanks again for your patience.

Comment

18:30 UTC - Starting up highlighted a couple of issues which we believe have been resolved. We will be attempting to start up TQ again in VIP mode.

Comment

VIP is somewhat misleading. Essentially it means that only developers with certain roles on their accounts can log into TQ. Typically QA or developers who have deployed features so they can jump onto the server and check things look okay before giving players and the other devs access.
