Welcome back! The subreddit has a changelog that goes over what was added/changed in the various updates, so that will be a great place to start. :)
You will definitely find players to group up with! Of course things like time and location can have a factor.
Be aware that most players are going to be at the max level/end game, so it may be difficult to find players while you are still levelling up (1-30). But after that it will become much easier!
