I think the message should go away as soon as a player has pressed the key to show the scoreboard for the first time. It's rather annoying to have it there all the time on the UI. it seems to go away after a few seconds but it would be nice to clean up the UI. If you have a strict NAT then this could well be the cause of your connection issues. If you're having difficulty with setting up port forwarding to correct this your ISP(if they provided you with your router) or the router manufacturer if it was purchased separately should be able to offer exact steps to set this up.
