Saves from A19.3 should be perfectly compatible with A19.6; And having loaded that save with A19.6, you can't bring it back to a19.3 (Can't load a save into older versions.)

That said, to answer 'What happened'; With the release of Alpha 20 Stable, Alpha 19 is now an Old version. The beta list only contains the final entry in each major version; EG: A16.4, A17.4, A18.4, and now A19.6; And ALL entries of the Current major stable; EG: A20.0, A20.1, A20.2.

PS: While you can no longer get A19.3 via the beta menu and this won't presently help you, You can make a copy of the installation to literally any other location and steam won't update it; Steam only manages things in the steam folders.

Important question, Did you follow the steps to properly update to A20? Or did you update directly from A19 without clearing game files and such? That may have broken some things if you di... Read more

I totally understand that but most people don't want to have to spend hours reading through stuff and the building you would think would stay the same after an update not totally change to the point you can't do anything you use to. So I am confused because when I use my axe on a concrete block it appears it is no longer available to upgrade....

It's simplified from before and you're finding it confusing? O.o

It's..pretty simple. There's no longer upgraded forms of blocks.
Instead of Wood-R.Wood-Flag-Cobble-Conc-R.Conc-Steel
It's now
Woodframe-Wood-Cobble-Conc-Steel.

There's no drying stage for the concrete, and there's no reinforced stages for any of the block types; Similarly, block types will not downgrade to other forms when broken. Broken is now broken. Block HP was adjusted to compensate for these changes.

Building blocks have received a major overhaul. For starters, there are now over 1300 unique shapes to select from for every craftable material. Players can now craft 5 basic material helper blocks which are:

Frames (OSB/Weak Wood texture), Wood, Cobblestone, Concrete and Steel.

After crafting, equip them to the toolbelt and then use ...

Only one bedroll or land claim block can be active at a time by default. Perhaps the bedroll or land claim in that area wasn’t active. Sorry to hear you lost your stuff.

One example of immersion still existing and being really annoying is Eating/drinking. You used to instantly get the full food/water/healing and it was great. Because you never over ate. Now you eat, eat, eat, eat, eat those charred meats and wait, wait, wait to see if it was enough and how much you need to drink.

Peak immersion was probably back in builds where trees falling could kill you/zombies. You needed a cooking pot to make water....

The next required wipe should be a21, which is many months away.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I am planning on doing bandits in two phases that will span two alphas as we are hoping for shorter alphas in the future by moving away from giant monolithic changes.

Honestly? I'd say no. It's a sandbox. Putting a definitive 'end goal' in, even if it's optional, will subconsciously skew players into focusing on that goal, and once done with it, they're left with 'What now?' syndrome and stop playing. Happens in every single survival sandbox game

Make your own end goal if you need something like that- It is, after all, a sandbox.

There are only 4 biomes now and 5 quest tiers including the starting one, so strictly speaking no, you couldn’t have each trader in a new biome. But you could guarantee there’s at least one trader in each biome, which doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

Just make sure you have hard disk space for it.

Save scrubbing is pretty common, but saves for 7 Days are a lot larger than most games.

I personally recommend using an incremental backup solution like Duplicati.
