Quick-scoping is essentially exploiting the zoomed-in accuracy and targeting without actually using it. It's a hack that is generally frowned upon.

We had a discussion about this a couple of months ago on the Official Forum.

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. If you click right mouse button it toggles ADS. If you hold right mouse button, you ADS until you release the mouse button. It is not instant and you can't do it while running, but this isn't an arcady fps shooter.
His complaint is that he's essentially a twitchy CoD style quick-scoper. If you tap right click and release it too fast it toggles; Which is something one might do if you do ... Read more

There's plenty of things you can do with a broken arm. Explore the world for good places to loot once your arm is better, scout out places to mine, sort out the inventories of your base, build and expand your base, do a trip around to all the traders you know of, and more.

There is never a time when you have nothing you can do when you have an injury. Do you need to be more careful while injured? Sure. But there's still plenty to do.

I'd be more worried about how you're approaching the game that you get broken arms frequently enough that you think they should be removed from the game, personally....Are you wearing armor in every slot you can? Armor adds critical resistance which reduces the chances of injuries in general, including broken arms and legs. Also, Avoid getting hit in the first place- The first hit in every encounter is a freebie and CANNOT give you injuries (Or isn't supposed to, anyway), only dealing HP damage- Every hit after that has a chance t... There are remedies you can craft to alleviate this.

Also I keep having to remind people that this is a survival game. Mechanics like this are expected.

In short, Loot is 'so bad' now because TFP have finally taken the first serious step in balancing the loot for the final product. What you're looking at and experiencing now will be expanded upon.
  • Additional low tier items will be added to flesh out the early game loot pool, such as pipe pistols and rifles.
  • Biomes will have a difficulty curve with the Forest being the easiest, and the Wasteland being the hardest; Loot will share a similar curve in that looting in the wasteland, while more dangerous, will also be more lucrative- Perfect for more skilled and knowledgeable players to 'skip the stone age' as it were, if they so choose.
  • Similarly to the above, POI's themselves will be getting a bit of an overhaul. Higher tier POI's will become much more difficult to fight through, but will also become more lucrative to go through- Meaning for the stubborn or the skilled, they can acquire better equipment sooner.
  • ...

You see, before the apocalypse Navezgane happened to have the most historians and anthropologists per capita. Naturally they’d secure their valuable artifacts in safes. 😉

Okay, non-snarky answer is to spread the fun out across early, mid, and late game, instead of spiking too early and spoiling the progression curve. They also haven’t yet implemented a couple big features - pipe weapons and biomes/POIs with gamestage modifiers - that are designed to add more variety for the early looting game.

If you really want to, ahem, dig deep into this, it’s all laid out in Config/biomes.xml.

You say 'not asking about surface nodes', but, Tbh, I haven't found an ore vein underground that wasn't telegraphed by a surface node. Dig directly under surface nodes and you find an ore node- EAch node is comprised of 2-4 different kinds of ore, of which one of them is guaranteed to be the same kind as the rock on the surface. These nodes then can extend just a few blocks down, or all the way to bedrock.

You can of course just dig around at random a la minecraft, but, you'll basically just be finding veins that are marked by a surface node. I guess given that most/all nodes begin from the surface, that being near the surface is the best place to tunnel around? Kinda?

I love procedural generation, so two things I'd like to see are procedurally generated cave systems, and individual mix-and-match variation among zombies.

Yep. And what isn't (like some fridges) you just make a storage container and paint it with the image of the fridge/stove/whatever.

I'm simply noting a serious concern as someone who has played since beta and watched non-existent progress toward an actual release while the updates continue to ruin game files. The game was not free. I buy/get beta games frequently. I've never seen a game 5 years later still not even have a tentative date for when the game will be ready to play without risking losing files.
You haven't played since Beta because it doesn't exist yet. Will m... Read more

It is the nature of Alpha development. Once the game is completed, this will no longer be an issue.

If you leave items in an in-world object that was NOT player placed, the object still calculates it's loot respawn timer. However, so long as items remain in the object, it will not actually respawn even if the timer hits 0.

Instead what happens is it waits until the player empties the object before immediately respawning loot, which is what happened to you.

Purely subjective to your needs. Red Mesa is personally one of my more favorite places to set up as it starts with concrete walls.

Ultimately, Your walls will hold so long as you maintain them. And this is where you might want to be a bit more choosey.

Early game, it's difficult to get ahold of concrete. Prior to getting access to a concrete mixer, getting enough concrete to maintain and upgrade a concrete wall or building is a pain. So you may want to instead find a wooden or brick building that you can maintain and upgrade with cobblestone rocks into cobblestone blocks.

This is also correct. We are going to get set bonuses, so it might change, but I have seen those builds. It is also possible to just outrun any bm horde. Either one (or a combination perhaps) can be used successfully. It can also depend on your settings.

The issue that the Heavy Armor perk has less value than its counterpart remains IMO.
Many perks have less value than others. However, Unless you're going ... Read more

Originally posted by JimmyIowa: The book helps, but it's only helps the mobility penalty, not all of them. And only when in combat.

It doesn't improve stamina regen, or noise in heavy armor. The stamina regen issue is very significant if you are a melee player both sprinting and striking in combat, especially on horde night. Running out of stamina even once is absolute death for the melee player on horde night (can't swing, AND can't run, byebye). So light armor is a life saver. And losing 25% mobility outside combat affects how much you can do during the day. You get 25% less done per day, fewer quests done while moving slower.

Basically the idea is losing 25% general mobility, being noisy, and much lower stamina re...

All the ones that were there when you logged out, yes. But areas already depleted of wildlife will still be that way until it's time to become repopulated, regardless of you logging in and out.

A system at recommended specs is expected to take 20-25 minutes to generate a map the first time. They're trying to lower this, but the goal is around one minute per one kilometer squared. At that rate an 8k map will take 8 minutes, and a 10k map 10 minutes.
