You have debug mode enabled and accidentally hit one of the numpad keys...I think it's numpad 0? Anyway when debug mode is enabled several of the numpad buttons do debug things; the * key for example freezes the AI.

First you get feature complete, then you optimize. That is standard practice. We are still in alpha, which is when you add features.

Unfortunately for the players that want more zombies, zombie count is limited by performance. Ergo, the game needs optimization (like redoing all the zombie models to be more efficient) before more zombies can be added.

Feature complete -> optimization -> more zombies

That is (my undersranding of) TFP’s thought process.

Think of it like this... You're building a machine, You've got a tentative blueprint and built a part of it, It works- It's not perfect but the part appears to work without causing issues. It could be fine tuned, It could be polished...But you haven't finished the rest of the parts for the machine yet, so you can't really put it through it's paces and ensure it will work properly in the end.

So, what do you do? Do you spend your time refining, tuning, and polishing that single part, when you know it could be a waste of time doing so as the part might just blow out? Or worse, you might over-tone or under-tune as you can't set the piece against the machine to be sure it fits after your changes? Or do you work on other parts so that you can finish the machine before beginning to polish and tune?

Correct. It was pretty obvious if you heard it. To be clear, what you hear now is different.

It may surprise you to know that zip lines were actually shown in a dev video for a never released version of the game. There are multiple hypotheses on why they were cut, but I believe madmole’s official response was that they made the game too easy (and yes, he said that after we had gyrocopters we could pull out of our backpacks at any time).

I can’t think of what you’re referencing, but it’s unlikely they’d do that intentionally. They already had to change the main menu music because it was too similar to that of a well-known zombie film.

No, the primary use for quick-scoping is because there is a delay in the games system that allows the player to still receive the increased accuracy that is calculated for being scoped in for a moment after they aren't. Loot is independent and relies solely upon the person looting the object- So just let her loot anything 'valuable' and focus on looting cabinets and trash yourself if you dont want to find awesome loot in low tier quests. (Edit for clarity: Loot is determined at the time of opening of any given lootable object- So just let her be the one to loot the valuable things like gun safes, while you focus on looting less valuable ones- Even if you loot trash and cabinets at a much higher gamestage, you'll still typically mostly find food, water, and trash items like duct tape and nails.)

Quest tier is also independent per player- Even if you're up to Tier 5 yourself, your wife herself is only at Tier 1 and can only accept tier 1 quests.

This. Also, For jumping off skyscrapers, have a bit of fore-thought and place a 3x3 or 5x5 pad of haybales (Or even 1x1 if you're brave and confident) at ground level before you ascend- then you can just jump off the top and land in the hay and be perfectly safe from the fall damage.

Erm.... It's actually pretty much the opposite. It's abnormally short for a team of their size working on a game with the scope of 7DTD. TFP is not a huge corporation- It started as a group of like, 6-10 people who got together and wanted to do something cool, and even now is only up to around 40-50 people, ish.

They are not EA. Nor Bioware, nor Ubisoft, nor any other massive AAA company that have endlesslky deep pockets, practically unlimited resources and connections throughout the industry.


And that's before we even discuss that many AAA companies can't put out a game of this scope in a shorter timeframe. There's numerous examples of games taking as long or longer to develop in entirety.
