I think they'll pretty much have to, if for no other reason than A) they want parity between console and PC, and B) Sony and Microsoft won't allow updates that break saved games.

This is an issue caused by the publisher of the original console version, Telltale. In a last ditch grab for cash before Telltale went bankrupt, one of the things they did was announce that the console version was 1.0 finalized and complete.

The Fun Pimps fought for years to reclaim the rights to the console version, but, unfortunately, because of what Telltale did, they actually can't update the existing console version. The Microsoft and PSN store rules require that any 1.0 released game cannot have updates that would break save compatibility with existing saves. Unfortunately, every single update since like A14 has completely broken saves necessitating... Read more

I like the knuckle pathway quite a bit. There is something very satisfying about punching the zombies. But I don't know how fun it would be without any weapons to progress with. Just a bare fist for the entire playthrough? I dunno...

I'd try it out if it was a mod. Maybe I'll name my shotgun "Chi"

No. Despite the tag of Alpha, TFP have not been following a traditional Alpha/Beta model of development. The last two major updates have been almost exclusively polishing and optimizing which are Beta activities.

Long story short, they are going right to 1.0 status and there won't be any Beta1, Beta2, etc.

Sounds like you set up in a POI where structural integrity was already questionable. Removing your sleeping bag caused it to re-calculate the glue, and it ended up lacking.

This is correct. Also, moving to the correct forum section. Please take a look around before posting.

Yes, specific traders appear in specific biomes in A22, but this could change as we test and iterate on the design.

It's kindof like the way movie ratings work; There's a certain amount of content that can fly under the rating, but once it reaches a given critical mass, the rating goes up. You can have one or two swear words and some mild violence and still be PG-13, add something vaguely sexual and now it's rated R. Take away the mild violence and half the swear words and it can be PG-13 again (assuming the vaguely sexual thing is vague enough, anyway)

In games, It's similar- If you blow all your 'ratings budget' on a bunch of other things, you can't ... Read more

TFP has been very adamant that they will not ever add child zombies.

Your only hope for seeing this in the game is through a mod.

The game is designed for 8-player co-op. There are no official servers.

The Philippines is basically the global black hole for internet traffic. I'm sure someone there is hosting a server you can play on though. Sort your server list by ping. Utilize sites like Bettlemetrics.com to look up servers near you. Or find a hosting company that has servers there, and start your own.

Towns flatten terrain, except for mountains. Terrain is generated first, so the more mountains, the less success towns have in generating and you would get less. I reduced mountain max scale a bit and may reduce the default mountain percent. I recently removed mountains from wasteland to allow bigger cities there, but their success rate is not as good as I hoped, so needs more work to figure out why.

I don't think anything is adding them after. Cities/towns use up the space pretty well now.

Maybe. Artists add those, not me.

Is the same. I have not looked at that code. It may or may not change.

Town planning changes involve more successfully making towns on the map. It failed a lot before due to excessive randomness and retrying the whole process instead of specific sections. The town tiles are the same layouts.

A township is a city, town, countrytown, oldwest or roadside type of location made up of a random range of tiles and these change based on world size.

Yes, we want better and more stamp variety, but there is no timeline for when that might happen.

Towns don't have a shape. I think they just grow in random directions, but I have not looked at that code, but plan to as I improve the systems.

The only people who have pre Steam versions (A1 - A3 I think) are the original kickstarter backers and only if they never uninstalled it because they are no longer available. Kickstarter backers played the first alphas by downloading the builds directly from The Fun Pimps. Once the game released on Steam early access those primordial builds could no longer be downloaded directly and since they were pre-Steam they do not show up on the beta list on Steam.

Also please note that a lot of the earlier versions on the beta list do not support the game launcher feature so you can only load them from the exe file.

I swear the pipe shotty feels slower to reload than the blunderbuss though. Is the r...

Also man the reload was alright, way better than the Shotty. ESPECIALLY if you know about the Richardson Shotguns.

I don't remember HATING having the blunderbuss as our beginning powder-firearm. IT was a joy to have a high-level blunderbusses cause that multi-hotbar strat worked, and worked well.

What are your thoughts? Is it the Cheap Ammo? The fast reload?

IMHO the only real difference between the blunderbuss and the current pipe shotty is the aesthetics and ammunition.

Personally the aesthetics don't really fit the game. The pipe shotty fits in a lot better, and is nearly as easy to make. The ammo is the only real shortfall here. Early game I'll load up a few pi... Read more
