Hey everyone,

Really appreciate you all letting me know about these unusual freezes. That sounds most frustrating, and I'd like to investigate further.

Can you all start by having a look at our troubleshooting article? You'll find it here. In particular, make sure to update your drivers and OS, verify the game files, and since the freezes and crashes seem often to be connected to saving, try running the game and Ubisoft Connect with admin rights.

Let me know if that seems to improve the situation. If not, we'll be able to do some other stuff to diagnose the issue. Cheers all

Hey Luke25totalwar and Kirgos, welcome to the forums! Sorry to read you're both having these crashes at startup - I'd certainly like to help you troubleshoot this.

A power cycle is definitely a good troubleshooting step to start with! We've got a few more at our support article, found here - I understand you've already made sure your drivers and OS are up to date, Luke25totalwar, but please also verify the game files, and make sure you've not got background programs running which might conflict with the game.

Hey Roelspaced, thanks for joining in on this topic.

We don't have an official list of defeat conditions, but perhaps another player could point us to a user-made list.

We also don't recommend any particular third party programs for recording gameplay, simply because we don't produce any such programs ourselves. But if you are able to get us some footage of one of these seemingly random defeats, or if you've got a save file from shortly before one happens, that'd be most useful in our investigation.

Our devs are currently tracking an issue with these freezes, and I'd like to add your experiences to our data to help us investigate this.

I do need to ask you to go through our troubleshooting guide, being sure that you've updated your drivers and OS, and that you don't have any background programs running that might be conflicting with the game.

Welcome to the forums, Vendrik90, and thanks for pointing this out to us And Fake-Empire too, that's very helpful. We'd been tracking an issue with the shark, and we'd deployed some fixes, so it's really unfortunate this hasn't solved the issue.

@Fake-Empire, would you be able to also get a save file across to us? It can be uploaded on any third party cloud storage service of your choice, just send me a link. Thanks so much.

In the meantime, I've passed this report on to our devs, along with Vendrik's save file. Thanks for that!

Let me know if there's any other thoughts or questions while we look into this.

Hey silversaxman, thanks for posting on the forums about this. Freezes and statistics not updating sounds very frustrating indeed - I'd really like to investigate further.

Please start with our troubleshooting article. I'd especially appreciate if you could verify your game files, and make sure your drivers and OS are up to date, to try to tackle the freezes. Then, make sure to run Ubisoft Connect and Anno with admin rights, to see if this properly updates the statistics.

If that doesn't improve the situation, would you be able to get me some screenshots showing the discrepancy with the statistics?

Hey chrisskews and everyone, thanks for letting us know about this issue with the research queue.

Please make sure you've verified your game files. It could be that oddities happened with the install process, so verifying the game files is a worthwhile step. Our support article describes how to accomplish this.

If that doesn't help, would you be able to get me some screenshots showing the issue? I'll be able to use these to follow-up the issue with our dev teams.

Hi Locklas, thanks for reaching out about this.

It's certainly a good idea to try connecting with a different connection (such as by using your phone as a mobile hotspot, and tethering to it over wifi). This will allow you to rule out your local network setup as a potential issue. Does it work on a different connection?

Have you ever been able to connect, or do you get this error every time?

If it still doesn't work on another connection, have a read through our connectivity troubleshooting guide, here. In particular, you'll want to check for software conflicts, and contact your ISP for help establishing an open NAT.

Hi Cesaurrielll, thanks for clarifying your question for us. Sorry to hear you can't connect to the game.

We have a connectivity troubleshooting guide for Xbox which I'd recommend following. In particular, be sure to contact your ISP to ask for their help in setting up UPnP and having an open NAT.

If that doesn't help, please let me know if you are able to connect to other games from your Xbox without issue, and if you're able to try connecting using a different network (for example, by setting up a wireless hotspot with your phone, and connecting to it via Wifi).

Hi Gilles, great to hear you're a fan of the coop mode!

Just to double-check, is the other player in your coop game able to see all the trade route thumbnails that you create?

Also, please try verifying the game files, from our troubleshooting guide below, just to make sure the install is as it should be.

I can certainly see where you're coming from about the 8-0x00001300 error potentially being the cause - this is also something our teams are currently looking into, so we'll have a solution as soon as possible.

Hey Meldonin, welcome to the forums!

The refresh rate is locked to your monitor's native refresh rate if you're on windowed or windowed-borderless. Can you see if this issue persists if you're on fullscreen for me?

Let me know if that solves it. If not, we can investigate further with some troubleshooting.

Welcome to the forums, SNERPZILLA202! Sorry to read you're having these freezes when you try to start the game up.

You've already tried verifying the game files, but please have a look at our troubleshooting guide anyway - you'll also want to make sure you've turned off unnecessary background programs (maybe that random key started up some sort of process?), and updated your OS and drivers, which is all described in the guide.

If that doesn't work, can you tell me if the program is crashing out to your desktop? Or if it's just freezing and you need to manually close it?

Hi SmokeDeDabs and alvah35, thanks very much for letting us know about this.

As you've mentioned, we did have an issue with this, but as far as we knew, we'd managed to get it fixed back in July 2020, so it's unfortunate to hear that it has recurred. Can you answer a few questions for me?

• Does this happen with any specific areas or missions?
• Can you identify the invisible enemies? I know this would be difficult, since they are invisible.
• Can you get a video showing this behaviour?
@alvah35 - Can you describe the other rendering issues you've faced? In what way do they prevent you from playing the game?

We wouldn't usually recommend purchasing from unofficial sources - we have a support article showing our approved digital vendors, here.

That said, I'd like to help with this anyway. Can you send me across a screenshot of exactly what happens when you try to use the key, so I can see what it says?

Thanks for clarifying that for us, unexactriot299.

It looks like your screenshots are showing the expected behaviour. With the setting on 'team,' you'll only be able to see team chat, which is activated with the Y key by default. With the setting set to 'all,' you'll be able to use the T key to speak to everyone, or the Y key to speak to your team.

Let me know if that clears this up for you, or if I've misunderstood your issue - I'll be happy to clarify further, if needed
