But, the direct answer to your question is 'yes'; But it would honestly be a lot simpler to just enable creative mode and re-build the lost structure, and spawn in whatever missing items before turning creative mode back off. You can do this by pressing F1 to open the console and entering 'cm'; repeat to disable.

The entire force ran around my whole base and tried busting in the front door. I guess all my saw traps are in the wrong spot. I should simply have them sitting in front of my door and not spread around my building's perimeter.
Actually it's more likely the way that you set up your traps. If you build, for example, a 2 tall 5 thick wall of wooden spikes on every side of your wall, the zombies will just walk around because they perceive that to be actual solid blocks, and that wall+ those 5 rows of wooden spikes = more total HP than the door which is not... Yes- However once generated, a world can be reused in the future without any generation time, similar to the Navezgane map which is handcrafted by the devs, and the Pregen## maps which are just pregenerated random maps included with the game so you can jump right in.

So you only need to generate a new world when you want a fresh world you know nothing about. Since you're new to the game, you could very easily just play Navezgane and have a blast; Or do one of the Pregen worlds and experience a random world instead without any generation time.

With 32 gigs of ram, you shouldn't be running out of ram, so it's likely that you're misunderstanding that it froze.. When it reaches the (again, i think 'generating cities') step, there's no progress bar and the game sometimes, to Windows' perspective, goes 'not responding'. But it is in fact still doing stuff in the background.

Try generating a world again, but this time when windows says it's not responding just tell it to wait and leave it for awhile- World generation from start to finish can take anywhere from 10 to 45+ minutes depending on the overall specs of your computer.

You're likely running out of available RAM. How much RAM does your computer have? Is your page file enabled? And what size world are you attempting to create?

Also is it hard crashing(As in, automatically closing itself without you doing anything), Or are you assuming that it crashed when it reaches a certain point in generation due to it not showing the progress bar? I believe it's the 'Generating Cities' step that omits the progress bar atm; but it's still actually processing even if it doesn't seem like it.

They have always used the Steam API, but port forwarding is recommended because not all devices properly support UPnP.

For me personally, Never. It's a survival game- Either I survive via my skills, ability, and knowledge, Or I don't. No matter how tough the circumstances.

This, But don't mess with time. That is a very quick way of ruining a save if you don't know exactly what you're doing; And sometimes even IF you know what you're doing. The game scales to your personal progression, so the actual day isn't particularly important except in regards to when the next blood moon is.

Standard ammo will suffice, HP and AP can be very useful but are not necessity. Similarly, You could just spend the entire game eating baseline food and never actually cook a better meal- But those better meals do make things a lot more convenient via needing to eat only once or twice instead of a dozen times, and also providing buffs.

As for enemies with armor, Construction Workers, Bikers, Military Zombies, and Demolitionists all have varying amounts of armor. The majority of zombies dont. That said, Penetrator is best in conjunction with sniper rifles that get the additional enemy penetration effect, allowing one rifle to hit up to 5 enemies at a time, which is rather nice; And also the zombies with armor are often the most difficult to deal with (Bikers, military, demos)

The player placed blocks myth hasn't been valid for a few years.

Often you get what you pay for in this regard. And there are some hosts that even if you pay for their top tier, are still crap. There is one in particular that I strongly advise against using right now.

Servers are self-hosted, or rented.

Any lag that you occur would be a result of the network connection between you and the server, or a lack of hardware on either side.

This is a voxel game that is considerable more demanding than CoD, so the comparison is bunk. You might as well compare it to GAT-V. A game that was finished well over 10 years ago.

Your "gigabit internet" doesn't mean jack if you're on Wifi, or if you're connecting to anything farther than the CO your data line connects to. There is a hell of a lot more to the internet than just your connection. It means even less when you have un-optimized hardware or software on your PC. I cover this in great detail in the Official Support FAQ thread[community.7daystodie.com].

FO76 and Call of Duty both have servers officially run by the owning company- All servers in 7DTD are run by players. There is no Official Dedicated Server run by TFP. You're kinda comparing apples and oranges. I do get the frustration- Just want to be sure you understand that what you're experiencing is the fault of whatever specific host is in question here that has awful lag or doesn't deal with their server's issues.

Progress is tied to the server, not to the client. So you should be fine.
