No special situations other than it being on or off. Like it is night, so those zeds can detect better. If they would hear you banging from 20m now they can at 50m or they would see you at 30m, but now 75m (made up numbers).

Code dealing with what is indoors or out has not changed.

Then why have a forge at all? It would just be a workbench with a different skin at that point. No thanks. The smelting time is the one mechanic that makes the forge unique among stations. It's been dumbed down enough already. We're even losing bricks in A20 because people are so impatient.

Yes, I understand what you meant. It was a common misconception, and was never a part of growth calculations.

That would, in effect, remove the forging time for raw materials altogether. Players that want to empty their forges would pick them up to skip that time, whether they actually want to move the forge or not.

The developers probably had a reason they wanted it to take time to get raw materials out of a forge. It might be an unintended consequence of how the forge materials are designed, but I think it’s more likely that the materials disappearing when you pick the forge up is the unintended consequence. I’d prefer a solution where you pick up the forge and it keeps the contents inside, but that’s likely not feasible with how the inventory works.

In short, your idea would address the perceived problem, but it would introduce an exploit and may be ‘fixing’ an intentional feature.

Not without using a mod that won't work with EAC.

There is no indicator other than zombies coming to kill you like they do any other time you are detected. Dynamic music would react when they target you like it does now.

The system simply gives zombie hearing and seeing distances a big bonus (defined in xml), so they hear and see you more easily. The Feral Sense bonus is either on or off depending on if set to day, night or both.

Sorry, I'm obviously having a noob moment here. What do you mean by "...chunk they are in is active" ?
A chunk is a 16x16 area. The mushroom uses a different code than the other plants, and that counter only ticks when the chunk is loaded. A chunk is a 16x16 block area.

Yeah, it's pretty common for non-standard characters like that to break game databases as well. It's why people with non-ASCII characters are blocked from joining a lot of servers.

I honestly don't know why Steam even allows it, given the amount of trouble it can cause.

Added Feral Sense option (None, Day, Night, All).

I'm still tweaking it, but I expect to be playing with it set to Night and actually being afraid of the dark.

Can confirm. Not only was it just a default placeholder Unity system, but it was too heavily abused by players to be left in place. It's gone now, and it's not coming back.

What's really interesting is that if peo... Read more

It's similar to people saying "not gonna lie". That implies that they lie by default when they don't say this.

I guess you maxed out something on your character.

It's a start! 😃

1. Good idea if implemented properly. Not sure where they stand on this though.

2. I recall hearing something about this, but I don't recall where offhand. Was probably in a dev stream) It would definitely be nice to have not only the option to toggle it on/off, but to have a couple of different styles.

3. The game was primarily designed for single-player, and supports co-op with friends of 8 players. Due to the overhead required for Voxel and world data, plus SI and AI pathing, the player count is going to remain small. I do have hopes that the supported player count will increase as the game is optimized more, but you aren't likely to see this go higher than 16 at the most. (Also note that some of the issues with latency can be due to SteamNetworking if the server is not properly configured to exclude it. Steam servers will basically throttle everyone down to the slowest connection.) On good hardware with a proper setup, hosting up to 20 should... Read more

There are a number of perk-related things you can unlock from books/schematics without putting points into them also.

You can. Start a new game, exit out. Then copy your player files from one save to the other. Leave the .map file alone and just copy the Steam64ID.ttp and Steam64ID.ttp.bak over.

Never, ever, mine anything under something you care about unless you have an absolutely perfect grasp of the structural mechanics. Quick way to lose tons of work. And if you attempt it, always reinforce more than you think you need- More structural pillars to support everything is super important. Even do extra's beyond the 'minimum necessary' just for safeties sake.

Support is infinite when measured in an unbroken vertical line of blocks from bedrock- Any open space makes support finite from that point upward; This is why digging under things is dangerous.

But tbh, much better to just not risk everything by digging under everything important to you. :winter2019happyyul:
