Hey, so there's a bug with the progress display, your progress is tracked on quite a few metrics and one is weighted too heavily for the progress tracker. 

And as noted, the progress tracker shows cumulative lifetime progress, so often when hitting a new rank you'll appear to be much further along towards the next rank.

I'm sorry but we won't know why you were banned from the forums. Can you take a look through your emails? There should be an email from Terms of Service that shares the general rule broken for example: ban applied for cheating/hacking/hate speech/etc.
